So, about a month and a half of college has passed. What’s my overall opinion on it? For the most part, I like it. The college life is pretty cool. I moved in to University House, which is an establishment mainly for college students, with four random people I’ve never met before. We’ve became pretty cool friends. We all have our own outlook on things, but we’re the same in a way.
College itself? It’s stressful. Mainly because I have a lot of time to procrastinate. I’m the master procrastinator. It kind of sucks, too. My classes are fairly simple. Here’s my schedule:
9AM: English 101 – Monday Wednesday Friday
12NOON: Bsat 205 – Monday Wednesday
1:30: Geology 105 – Monday Wednesday
12:30: Badm 100 – Tuesday Thursday
2:00: Math 250 – Tuesday Thursday
So, yeah. It’s pretty simple. I enjoy it for the most part. I have a feeling next semester is going to kick my ass though. =X

Yesterday, as I was leaving my job, I ran into a friend of mine. I haven’t seen him in a while. His name’s Scott. Everyone calls him Scottie. Scottie’s a cool guy. He’s nice, has his own sense of style, and just wouldn’t harm anyone. Scottie and I talked for a while; told him I was moving to Lafayette soon. Like, next-week soon. He thinks that’s cool, and that I should give him a call when I’m there and he’ll show me around and what not.
Today, I get a call from a friend. She asks me what Scott’s last name was. She was there when we ran into each other. I couldn’t think of it right away, and she asks if it was Leonard. I said, “Yeah, that’s it.” Then she informs me that there’s a rumor that he killed himself today.
I couldn’t believe it. I tell her that I’ll give her a call back and try to find out. Just as I get off the phone with her, another friend calls me.
“Hello?”
“Hey, Mikee.”
“Hey.”
“We’re all over at my house.”
“Okay, umm -”
“Do you remember Scottie?”
“Yes, I was just fixing to ask you about him. Is it true?”
“Yeah, he committed suicide.”
“Are you serious? It’s true?”
“Yes, it’s true. Can you please come over?”
“I’ll be there shortly.”
He really did it. But WHY would he make plans if he had plans to commit suicide? Was it an accident? Was he under the influence of something? It’s so hard to believe. He seems so jolly yesterday. He was always a jolly person. I can’t picture him doing something like that.
It’s just SO to see one of your friends gone – just like that. It happened so quickly.

Would you expect this guy to do something like that?
No. I definitely didn’t.
You’ll be missed, Scott Leonard.
See you later, man.
RIP.

Sheesh! That’s right around the corner! I’m so stoked, yet so nervous at the same time. I’m not exactly sure if I’m prepared or not. The main thing on my mind is getting there and doing my best.
I’ll be attending The University of Louisiana at Lafayette for Business MIS, which stands for management information services. “MIS is a general name for the academic discipline covering the application of people, technologies, and procedures — collectively called information services — to solve business problems. MIS are distinct from regular information systems in that they are used to analyze other information systems applied in operational activities in the organization. Academically, the term is commonly used to refer to the group of information management methods tied to the automation or support of human decision making.” – Wikipedia – Management Information Services.
I first enrolled for computer science. I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I came to find that computer science is nothing more than algorithms. I didn’t want to get involved with all of that mess. I’ll just stick to a degree in business and keep myself educated on the basic fundamentals of computing hardware and software. Possibly start a business later on related to the computing world.
